Anna Symington '79, '83G is the Deputy Regional Director for the Massachusetts Department of Environmental Protection’s Bureau of Waste Site Cleanup, managing a staff who oversee hazardous waste site cleanups in Western Massachusetts. Over the past 22 years, Anna has held a variety of positions within the agency, including agency spokesperson and innovative technology coordinator. She also served in an advisory role for the Stockbridge School of Agriculture. Anna is an avid supporter and participant of the Rays of Hope Breast Cancer annual walk fundraiser, and a member of the Circolo Italiano.
A graduate of the UMass Amherst Stockbridge School of Agriculture in 1976, she went on to receive her Bachelor’s degree in Plant and Soil Science from the university in 1979 and her Master’s degree in 1983.
Anna resides in South Hadley, Massachusetts. She is a vice president of the Alumni Association Board, serves on the Governance and Executive Committees, as well as the Communications, Marketing and Membership Committee, and chairs the Nominating Committee. Anna has been a member of the Alumni Association since 2004.
