F. Michael Mahoney '83, '85 MS is the manager of the external venturing group with Saint-Gobain Corporation in Northboro, MA, where his team identifies and evaluates start-up companies for partnerships with Saint-Gobain businesses. Prior to this position, he was a technology manager overseeing research and development of new products and improved manufacturing processes for 17 world-wide manufacturing plants and business units.
Michael received his bachelor's degree in civil engineering in 1983 and a master's degree in mechanical engineering in 1985 from UMass Amherst. He went on to earn his Ph.D. in materials science from the University of Stuttgart in Germany in 1992. He has been a member of the UMass Mechanical and Industrial Engineering Industrial Advisory Board since 2007.
Michael is an elected member of the Alumni Association Board and serves on the Alumni & Student Programs and Scholarship & Awards Committees and has been a Sustaining Member of the Alumni Association since 2007.
