Harold M. Lane, Jr. '60 is the interim principal for the Wachusett Regional High School. Previously, he served as executive director for the Alliance for Education and served in the Massachusetts House of Representatives, where he was chairman of the Joint Committee on Education, Arts & Humanities. Hal is active in the Wachusett Area Rotary Club, where he was a Paul Harris Fellow and served as past president.  He is also involved with various youth sport leagues, the Jaycees, and serves on the Earth Day Committee for the Town of Holden. 

Hal graduated from UMass Amherst in 1960 with a Bachelor’s degree in History and Education. As an undergraduate, he was president of Sigma Phi Epsilon fraternity and vice president of the Student Senate.

Hal resides in Orleans, Massachusetts. He is a Life Member of the Alumni Association and the immediate past president of the Alumni Association Board. Hal chairs both the Grants Review Committee and the Honors and Awards Committee, and serves on the Executive and Volunteer Advocacy and Public Affairs Committees.
