Kimberly Sherman '87 is pursuing a PhD in Organizational Studies at UMass Amherst. She spent eight years at IBM, holding human resource management positions in San Jose, CA at the Research Center and in New York for the Services business. She also held program manager positions in the areas of general human resources, diversity, performance management and employee relations. Before IBM, Kim spent six years at a small human resource consulting company and also served as a recruiter in New York City for two years.
In addition to her professional roles, she served on the Board of Directors for InnVision, a homeless shelter and development organization in San Jose. She currently volunteers for the non-profit organization Amherst A Better Chance to help recruit, identify, and develop leaders among young people of color. Kim has completed five New York City Marathons, two Olympic-distance triathlons, and many local road races.
Kim graduated from UMass Amherst in 1987 with a Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources and currently resides in Hadley, Massachusetts. She is the secretary of the Alumni Association Board, serves on the Executive Committee, and chairs the Alumni Career Services Committee. She has been a member of the Alumni Association since 2006.
