The Distinguished Alumni Awards are the most prestigious awards conferred by the Alumni Association upon its alumni, faculty, staff and friends. These awards are presented to those individuals who have translated their UMass Amherst experience into distinguished achievement in their field of endeavor, and whose accomplishments reflect admirably on or bring honor to the university. While nominations are accepted year-round, please submit your nomination by September 16, 2013 to be considered for the 2014 awards.
Distinguished Alumni Award
Honoring alumni with national and/or international distinction who have translated their UMass Amherst experience into distinguished achievement in public, business or professional realms, and have shown service to UMass Amherst in financial, volunteer, or advocacy sectors.

Distinguished Young Alumni Award
Honoring alumni who have graduated within the last ten years and have demonstrated accelerated career progression in public, business or professional realms and used their UMass Amherst education in a quest for excellence.

Distinguished Alumni Service Award
Honoring alumni for outstanding and significant contributions of service to a particular community and/or to the university in financial, volunteer, or advocacy sectors.

Distinguished Faculty Award
Honoring faculty members who have shown exceptional skill in their professional realm of teaching, research and student involvement. Their work demonstrates the value placed on teaching, credible contributions outside the classroom in research and/or creative activity, and/or efforts that significantly enhanced the well-being and reputation of the university within the community at large.

Distinguished Honorary Alumni Award
Honoring individuals who have neither earned a degree nor were matriculated students for at least two consecutive semesters but who have consistently demonstrated extraordinary commitment, dedication and service to the advancement of the UMass Amherst campus in financial, volunteer or advocacy sectors.

Eleanor Bateman Alumni Scholar in Residence
Established in 1989, this program promotes interaction between students and distinguished alumni and other individuals. It provides students with role models that exemplify the achievement of the university’s mission through professional accomplishments and public service. The Bateman Scholar’s visit to campus includes class lectures, workshops and a public forum open to the campus community. Recent and Upcoming Bateman Scholars
