Distinguished Faculty Awards Recipient

Ting-wei Tang

Ting-wei Tang, a UMass Professor Emeritus, received his bachelor’s degree from National Taiwan University, and master's and PhD degrees from Brown University. He joined the UMass Amherst faculty in 1968.

Tang's research field is in semiconductor device physics and numerical simulation of semiconductor devices. He is a Life Fellow of Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, elected for his contributions to the hydrodynamic transport modeling of semiconductor devices. 

Tang was the recipient of the Outstanding Senior Faculty Award and the Outstanding Teaching Award from the College of Engineering at UMass Amherst in 1989 and 1991, respectively. In 2000, he was awarded the UMass Amherst Chancellor’s Medal.
