We've reached our goal of 1,500 paid orders and the UMass License Plate is going into production! All orders have been sent to the Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles. It will take up to six months for the RMV to manufacture the plates and deliver them to their branches. The RMV will notify you by mail when your plates have been shipped to the requested branch listed on your application. Once the plates are produced, they will be available to the public through the RMV. Check back here for updates! Thank you for your participation in this program. Proceeds from the special plate fee will support scholarships and programs provided by the Alumni Association that advance UMass Amherst.
How much does a UMass special license plate cost?
Costs include a $40 special plate fee and a $20 swap fee; $28 of the initial order and $40 with each renewal is tax-deductible.
How will the special plate benefit UMass?
Proceeds from the special plate fee will support scholarships and programs provided by the Alumni Association that advance UMass Amherst.
Can I get a plate even though I didn't pre-order one?
Yes, anyone with a vehicle registered in Massachusetts can order a UMass plate.
