The Alumni Association’s role as an advocate for UMass Amherst is vital to the university’s continued growth. Through communications, online resources and engagement efforts, we are helping to build a stronger student and alumni network to support the future of UMass.

Following a comprehensive alumni survey, we are working to put in place programs that reflect the interests of our diverse alumni community. Some highlights from the Alumni Association’s accomplishments in FY 2014 include:

  • A total commitment of 2.5 million dollars to the UMass Rising campaign to support the university and its growing influence and leadership, both in the Commonwealth and around the world, as the flagship public research institution of Massachusetts.
  • The UMass Amherst License Plate is available through the Massachusetts Department of Transportation and can be seen on highways and byways throughout Massachusetts and beyond.
  • Each year the Alumni Association presents more than 100 scholarships and awards totaling some $100,000 to UMass Amherst students.
  • Our Alumni Networks are also leading efforts to raise scholarship funds for UMass students from their area. Of particular note are the Boston and Cape Cod Alumni Networks.
  • The Alumni Association is working to provide alumni with opportunities to connect with alumni and students who share similar affinities or professional interests. In addition to our Finance Alumni Network, we have now started the Life Sciences Alumni Network, the Legal Alumni Network, the Black Alumni Network and the LGBTQ Alumni Network.
  • Our fan gatherings at Gillette Stadium drew thousands of alumni and will do so again this year as UMass Football prepares to play both at McGuirk and Gillette Stadium in 2014.
