Students, family members, educators and alumni filled the Student Union Ballroom on a bright Sunday morning in March for the Alumni Association’s 2015 Scholarship and Award Reception. Chancellor Kumble R. Subbaswamy welcomed guests and congratulated this year’s recipients. “This morning, as scholarships and awards are bestowed upon our students,” said the chancellor, “we are able to celebrate the accomplishments of our current students in large part because of those students who came before them – our alumni who recognized the transformative importance of the University of Massachusetts Amherst.”
Alumni Association President Andrew MacDougall ’95 and President elect Michaella Morzuch ’03, ’08 MPA presided over the scholarship and award presentations with help from Student Alumni Association (SAA) President Brian Hickey ’15 and SAA members Allie Levine ’15 and Victoria Lui ’15.
“The Alumni Association is dedicated to enhancing the student experience and adding value to UMass Amherst degrees,” said MacDougall. “In addition to recognizing our best and brightest, our programs promote learning, leadership, professional development and UMass pride. The Alumni Association also connects students with an impressive alumni community, spanning the globe, whose achievements continually bring honor to this institution.”
The Alumni Association awards over $100,000 each year in scholarship and awards, which are funded through member contributions and proceeds from the UMass Amherst License Plate program. Many thanks to our supporters who make this program possible!
