Katy Abel ’11 is the associate commissioner for external affairs at Massachusetts Department of Higher Education (DHE). The system of public higher education comprises 29 campuses divided into three segments: 15 community colleges, nine state universities, and the five University campuses. In her role at the DHE, Abel works to ensure that Massachusetts residents have the opportunity to benefit from a higher education that enriches their lives and advances their contributions to the civic life, economic development, and social progress of the Commonwealth. |

Shaun M. Dougherty ’99 is assistant professor of education policy and leadership at the Neag School of Education and an affiliated faculty member in the Department of Public Policy at the University of Connecticut. Dougherty’s work focuses on applied quantitative analysis of education policies and programs, including career and technical education. In particular, he emphasizes how policies and practices affect educational equity related to race, class, gender, and disability.

Christopher Misra ’97 is the chief technology officer at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. His responsibilities include management of overall campus technology, networking, data centers, identity management, enterprise architecture, and the information security program. Misra is also an instructor at UMass where he has taught undergraduate courses on network security for many years.

Arlene Rodriguez ’04 PhD is vice president for academic affairs at Springfield Technical Community College (STCC). Rodriguez has spent more than 20 years at STCC, including 10 years serving as dean of the School of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences, and 10 years as Honors Program coordinator and professor of English prior to that. Throughout her career, Rodriguez has been a staunch advocate for education, empowerment, and advancement.

Irene Rodriguez-Martin ’10 EdD is associate dean of graduate enrollment and student services at the Smith College School for Social Work (SSW). Rodriguez-Martin oversees integrative plans for recruitment, selection, enrollment and retention of a diverse student body and serves as a senior member of the SSW’s administration. She previously held the role of director of graduate enrollment and continuing education at Smith College and has also worked as a higher education consultant.
