Resources for Readers

Looking to access newspaper articles, ebooks, and other resources? Many are available to the UMass community and to Massachusetts residents. See below for instructions on how to get access.

UMass Amherst Libraries

UMass Amherst alumni and Massachusetts residents can access a variety of open education resources through the UMass libraries, as well as physical materials and some online databases and periodicals.

Boston Public Library

Massachusetts residents can get a Boston Public Library eCard, which provides digital access to the Boston Globe and other newspapers, plus journals, ebooks, streaming and downloadable media, and more.

CW MARS

Anyone who lives, works, or studies may apply for a public library card through the Central and Western Massachusetts Resource Sharing (CW MARS) network. You can also sign up for an instant digital card to check out ebooks, audiobooks, and other digital resources through Overdrive.

Library of Congress

Open access is available to the library's digital collections, including books and manuscripts, audio and video recordings, maps, photographs, and more.
